From My Perspective
Middleweight Edith Agu Ogeko defeated Kiara Marquez by unanimous decison in both their professional debuts on February 23rd at Second 2 None’s War in Warren. Ogeko came out strong and aggressive, overwhelming Marquez early. Ogeko circled Marquez, who had to work hard to connect a few hooks.
Round two saw Marquez attempting to gain some footing. She executed several solid punches and it was evident that she had a strategy going in to this fight, but was still overwhelmed by Ogeko’s onslaught.
Rounds three and four sealed Ogeko’s victory. She stalked Marquez around the room, landing aggressive body shots. Though Marquez continued to execute cleaner punches, she couldn’t overcome “The Lioness of the World.”
Though this was her first professional debut, Ogeko is no stranger to the world boxing stage as she qualified and competed in the 2012 Olympics.
