Written by Light is a short film that explores the art and craft of photography, I wanted to look at the role light has in shaping our perception of reality.

I was inspired by the collaboration between World Press Photo and Magnum Photos, who curated this year’s Magnum Square Print Event from their archives.

In light of the recent events in Gaza and Israel, Magnum Photos and World Press Photo will be donating a portion of their profits from the sale to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in order to support humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and other situations of violence around the world.

"Road to Little Caesars Arena" is a documentary series directed by Terrell Groggins. It follows boxer Da'Velle Smith and his trainer, Angel, as they prepare for Da'Velle's upcoming fight at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena. With an intimate filming style, the series offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Da'Velle's training regimen and personal life. Watch as he pushes himself to the limit, supported by his dedicated trainer, in pursuit of his boxing dreams.

This documentary explores the connection between Detroit and its residents through the stories of four groups:

1. Business owners

2. Street artists

3. Hip-hop artists

4. Boxer Marlon Harrington

Directed by a local filmmaker, the film showcases how these individuals face challenges while maintaining their spirit. It highlights their:

- Hard work

- Artistic creations

- Musical expressions

- Dedication to their city

The documentary celebrates the resilience of Detroit's people, offering an inspiring and touching portrayal of their lives.

Murodjon: Rising from the Ranks" is a captivating documentary that follows the journey of Murodjon Akhmadaliev from his humble beginnings in Uzbekistan to becoming a world champion boxer. Through interviews with Murodjon, and coach Joel Diaz and the mini-doc explores a snapshot of situations he faced in his career, including his decision to transition from amateur to professional boxing.

The documentary also showcases Murodjon's remarkable talent and determination, which led him to win a gold medal in the Asian Championship and a bronze medal at the Olympics before winning the world title "Murodjon: Rising from the Ranks" is a must-see for sports fans and anyone who appreciates a story of perseverance and triumph.

The number four overall draft pick Ahmed "Sauce" Garner joined fellow New York Jets teammate Del’Shawn Phillips at their native Detroit Pal Athletic Stadium for the Jourdan Lewis WR/DB Skills Camp on Sunday, May 29th. Lewis plays Corner and is going into his 6th season with the Dallas Cowboys. All of these phenomenal athletes are products of the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Lewis and Phillips helped lead the Cass Tech HS football team to back-to-back historical D1 Michigan Athletic Association Football State Championships. Gardner's D2 State Championship victory was earned at Martin Luther King High School. Detroit Public Schools Community District has sent several dozen alumni to the NFL in the past few decades.

Keeping the Detroit demons of our past on a leash isn't an easy task. We are witnessing the rebirth or resurrection of Detroit. Our city's downtown has improved, but our inner city communities still suffer. Everyone has a hand to play in this rebuilding process.
